The Rex Battleship is a large, powerful ship in use as a heavy battleship and command ship in the V.R.A. fleet. It is a recent addition to the V.R.A. fleet, but has enjoyed enormous success in every fleet action in which it has participated.

History
Pre-Sigma
The Rex Battleship was introduced in 13445 HSY, in response to heightened tensions with the Zevestivan Empire. Critics derided the unorthodox design, but it proved itself over and over again in the simulators, as well as in numerous skirmishes with Zevestivan ships.
Human-Jevoron War
Rex Battleships were a key component of the fleet that attacked the Jevoron Homeworld, helping to win key battles both on the outskirts of the system and in orbit of the planet itself. No ships of this class were lost during the entirety of the Human-Jevoron War.
First Zevestivan War
By the time of the First Zevestivan War, Rex Battleships were still in short supply, but were able to support all major fleet actions regardless. They were present at the Second Battle of Bayrco and the Battle of Hizeevak, and proved brutally effective in both engagements, as well as numerous others. Zevestivan commanders were unable to get to grips with a ship that could engage them at both medium and short ranges, and this versatility proved overwhelming everywhere the Rex was deployed.
Civil War
Most of the Rexes in the fleet were destroyed during the V.R.A.'s panicked defense of Horovine against the U.C.. Those few that remained fled the system to regroup after the destruction of the planet.
The Great Xeno War
Most of this period was spent trying to rebuild the Rex Division after the Battle of Horovine, but with limited success due to a large lack of raw materials. Few new ships were built during this time.
The Aabtani Infestation
Most of the remaining Rexes were infested by the Aabtani, and later destroyed or captured by the U.C..
Post-Sigma
Since the end of the war against the Aabtani, the Rex Division has fallen into general disrepair, as the ships have aged and few new ones have been built. Defections are rife, and it is estimated that at least 10 of the ships are in the hands of the U.C..
Versions
The Rex is a relatively new addition to the fleet, and as such has not seen many modifications/refits. Only one real experiment into alternate configurations has been made, by General Mokbel.
Version A
This is the only version of the ship that has been mass produced, and serves as the base for further research into large ship development in the V.R.A..

Version A Flamestar Variant
The Flamestar is the personal ship of General Geon E. Mokbel, and serves as a testbed for research into multi-role battleships.

- Armaments: 16 ZPM missile launchers, 1 IAL, 6 flak arrays containing 18 cannons each, 2 fighter bays
